Kevin Thelwell has pulled off an absolute blinder at Everton, even the media are shocked

Although David Moyes was open about the fact that Everton was still having PSR problems, he still intended to add a center-forward.

Even though he didn’t get his wish, the Friedkin Group will have considerably greater spending freedom in the summer window, which will benefit the team.

Carlos Alcaraz, who entered on an initial loan from Brazilian team Flamengo, was one new player Everton was able to bring in.

If certain conditions are fulfilled and it is agreed that the charge will be around £15 million, the agreement will become permanent.

Having said that, Everton’s ability to pull off the Alcaraz trade under the circumstances has stunned the Brazilian media.

Brazilian media stunned by conditions of Carlos Alcaraz deal

According to Gazete do Urubu, Brazilian journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira expressed shock at Flamengo’s choice to loan Alcaraz for a mere £15 million with a permanent clause.

“The most costly player in the club’s history was sold to Flamengo for zero profit to Everton, a team in dire need of the player with a roster of injured players who needed an athlete for this position,” Pereira said.

“Everton had to avoid an immediate purchase due to the financial fair play that took eight points from them in the previous English season and this one that is currently under dispute.

“In other words, Flamengo accepted favourable conditions for Everton, correct? They could have said: okay, I accept the conditions, but I don’t want 20 million. I want 25, I want 30, I want 20% of a future sale.”

Pereira thinks Everton will sell Alcaraz for double the amount

Alcaraz is highly-rated in his native Argentina and indeed around Europe, such is why he’s plied his trade at Southampton, Juventus and now Everton.

Even Lionel Messi has high hopes for Alcaraz, so clearly, it was a strange move from Flamengo to sanction his departure with such a low permanent buy clause.

Pereira went on to say that he believes Everton would eventually sell the 22-year-old to a rival Premier League team for twice as much.

“Flamengo is merely attempting to recoup their investment from this 22-year-old player, who will transfer to another English club for twice as much if he performs well at Everton.” Flamengo will also receive nothing.

“Considering the necessity, I felt the deal was bad; they could have gotten more from the English team.” He just played five minutes before hitting the post in the final game, but they needed him. Therefore, I believe Flamengo did not negotiate effectively in this instance.

It’s obvious that Kevin Thelwell has done a fantastic job with this arrangement.
