Bradford City man closing in on return from injury after recent absence.

Lewis Richards of Bradford City is ‘closing in’ on his comeback from injury, according to The Telegraph & Argus.

Bradford City has been without the player for the past few weeks. He sustained a shoulder injury during BCAFC’s match against AFC Wimbledon earlier this month.

Richards, 23, has been sidelined recently. However, he is making good progress on his recovery journey. According to The Telegraph & Argus, its CEO Graham Alexander stated, “We’re probably going along the same protocol as last time, but it’s a little shorter because it was a bit unknown. We know his condition, therefore it’s been a speedier return to the turf. We just have to take it day by day and gradually increase his workload and exposure to contact. “When he’s fully immersed, he may return to it. He did great today. Fitness-wise, it’s no problem; he’s played a lot of games and has been able to go running almost right away. It’s just the contact between players and because of how we train, there’s quite a bit of that sometimes.”

Bradford City injury update regarding Lewis Richards

Richards’ return will be a huge help for Bradford City, as he can play in a variety of positions, mostly left wing-back. He increases their competitiveness and depth while also strengthening their ranks.

The former Republic of Ireland youth international has made 28 appearances this season, 21 of which have been in the league, scoring two goals and providing three assists. Richards began his career with Brentford and moved to Wolves in 2016. He progressed through the Midlands club’s academy systems and appeared nine times for the first squad as a teenager.

Harrogate Town loaned him out twice before Bradford City signed him permanently in 2023. What next for Bradford City? Bradford City are currently in fifth place in the table and are in the play-offs alongside Notts County, Crewe Alexandra, and Port Vale as they seek promotion to League One. The Bantams lost 2-1 away to Birmingham City in the Vertu Trophy last time out and will miss a trip to Wembley Stadium. They return to action this weekend at home against MK Dons, hoping to bounce back.
