Sky Sports: Fresh Tranmere Rovers takeover update shared involving A$AP Rocky.
Tranmere’s possible takeover by a consortium led by A$AP Rocky has taken a’step closer’ after he was found not guilty of a firearm assault.
It was rumoured in October that the artist was part of a consortium interested in purchasing the League Two club, with current owner Mark Palios eager to sell.
However, no progress had been made recently. A$AP Rocky, real name Rakin Myers, was facing two felony assault charges that carried a maximum sentence of 24 years in jail, but he was found not guilty.
Tranmere Rovers takeover involving A$AP Rocky moves closer
As a result, Sky Sports News reports that a prospective agreement between the rapper and Tranmere has grown closer. They state that his acquittal is a ‘good step’ towards ensuring this may forward, albeit it may still depend on the tier the club is in next season.
League Two Table (as of 19/2/25) | ||||

Team | P | GD | Pts | |
22 | Tranmere Rovers | 31 | -27 | 28 |
23 | Morecambe | 32 | -20 | 26 |

Nonetheless, if they remain in the EFL, there is hope that it will be completed in time for the next season.
Tranmere Rovers will be hoping for a fresh start
Tranmere Rovers have had a horrible season so far, with Nigel Adkins’ side presently third from bottom in League Two and only two points above the relegation zone. So they have a lot of work to do to prevent relegation to the National League, which will be a major concern for Palios, prospective purchasers, and everyone associated with the club.
Clearly, this season hasn’t been good enough, and a change in ownership would benefit the team as they attempt to move forward and improve in the next years. It’s impossible to say whether the buyers, who include A$AP Rocky, are good news for Tranmere because additional information about who they are and their long-term plans for the club is needed. The obvious analogy in terms of celebrity participation is Wrexham and, to a lesser extent, Birmingham City, both of which are flourishing. So, if Tranmere could recreate it, it would be extremely exciting for everyone concerned. More developments are expected in the next weeks and months, although the football club’s main priority right now is to get enough points on the board to stay in the league.
Tranmere are back in action this weekend with a tough trip to promotion-chasing Notts County.
