Ruud van Nistelrooy has just announced Leicester have hired Premier League title winner to join coaching staff

On Friday night, Leicester City will play their next game at the King Power Stadium against Brentford.

With losses in nine of their previous ten Premier League games, Leicester has fallen into the relegation zone.

Position Team Played Won Drawn Lost For Against Diff Points
17 Wolves 25 5 4 16 35 54 -19 19
18 Ipswich 25 3 8 14 23 50 -27 17
19 Leicester 25 4 5 16 25 55 -30 17
20 Southampton 25 2 3 20 19 57 -38 9

The Foxes are two points adrift of safety and these are the games Ruud van Nistelrooy simply has to win to ensure they keep their top-flight status.

Last time out, Van Nistelrooy’s players produced a respectable showing against Arsenal, however, defensive blunders ultimately cost them.

Evidently, something needs to change and with that said, Van Nistelrooy has just announced in today’s news conference that one of their club’s former Premier League title winners has joined his coaching team.

Andy King has joined the coaching team of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Andy King will now be a member of the first-team coaching staff, Van Nistelrooy said during the press conference on Wednesday.

Since hanging up his boots last year, the former Leicester Premier League champion has been working with the under-18 squad.

The Leicester manager has obviously taken notice of King’s familiarity with the football team and, in fact, his teaching abilities while on patrol in Seagrave.

King should practice with the first team every day and help develop the academy’s players, according to Van Nistelrooy.

King might assist Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga in making their senior debuts.

It’s clear that Van Nistelrooy and the team are hoping that King’s promotion would facilitate communication between the senior squad and the academy.

Perhaps King’s assurance and direction will aid Van Nistelrooy in incorporating Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga into the team, as they are so close to making their first-team debuts.

The Dutchman will undoubtedly benefit from having an additional set of eyes around him because all young players need to be developed and watched carefully, especially when they transition to men’s football.

Furthermore, King’s lengthy playing career at Leicester will undoubtedly give the coaching staff unmatched experience.

He knows exactly what is required to restore the football team to its former glory; therefore, his knowledge will be invaluable.
