
Reading FC and Nottingham Forest star scoops annual prize
The 21-year-old, who joined Nottingham Forest earlier this month but will stay in Berkshire until May, has been a major player in
League One since joining the team in 2023. He has made almost 100 appearances and finished second in the Player of the Season
competition the previous year.
The defender, who played at the Olympic Games last summer, has established himself as a mainstay for his country in addition to his club play.
Bindon defeated Cormac Buchanan (motorcycling-road), Luke Harrold (snow sports), Ethan Olivier (athletics), Levi Townley
(motorcycling-motocross), and Erice Van Leuven (mountain bike) to win the Emerging Talent award. That evening, golfer Dame Lydia
Ko took home the Supreme Award, while athlete Hamish Kerr was named Sportsman of the Year and Ko the Sportswoman of the Year.
The awards, which are named after New Zealand’s middle-distance runner and Olympic gold medallist Sir Murray Halberg, have been
given out every year for the country’s greatest sporting accomplishments.
