England legend extends advice to ‘bright, talented’ Sheffield Wednesday keeper James Beadle

Before Sheffield Wednesday’s high-pressure Championship match against Burnley this weekend, James Beadle has been given a straightforward bit of advice: be composed and keep going.

Last time out against Coventry City, the England under-21 goalie made a really outstanding stop to maintain the score at 1-1 by denying Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s header at close range 76 minutes into the match.

His performance will undoubtedly be remembered primarily for his late goal that gave Ellis Simms the opportunity to win the game for the visiting Sky Blues, but that is just the nature of goalkeeping.

Having constructed his Derby County team around players like Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, and Harry Wilson and starting his own illustrious playing career as a teenager in the mid-1990s, Coventry manager Frank Lampard is well-versed in developing young, talented players.

He is well aware of Beadle’s undeniable skill, and in the England setup, he worked with the Brighton & Hove Albion loanee under his assistant manager Joe Edwards.

“I would say absolutely nothing to him other than he should keep going and he should keep his head because I know he’s a highly talented goalkeeper, really good,” Lampard told The Star when asked what advice he would give Beadle regarding any criticism that would undoubtedly be directed at him.

A few of my employees have collaborated with him.
Although it’s normal for a goalie, he will be OK. He is an exceptionally talented and intelligent goalie.

With Owls manager Danny Röhl having stated that Beadle is the team’s number one and fellow talent Pierce Charles serving as backup, there doesn’t appear to be much doubt that Beadle will keep the gloves going to Turf Moor.

Lampard reaffirmed that being a goalie can be challenging, and he examined how gifted young goalkeepers may recover swiftly from unwelcome attention.

“Oliver Dovin, our young goalie, is also good,” Lampard remarked. In the match against Leeds, he committed a glaring error. Since then, Ollie has made some extremely significant saves for us, and Beadle made a fantastic header save. That save was amazing and at a high level.

Goalkeepers deserve all the praise; I wasn’t one, but when you are and you make a mistake, it’s always very obvious and may be deadly.
