Cardiff City match to remember fatal crash four

A football match in memory of four people who died in a car crash in Powys was held in Cardiff.

In March, Margaret Challis, 66, Alesha O’Connor, Rhodri Miller, and Corey Price, all 17, perished in a two-car crash on the A470 in the Brecon Beacons.

Teams composed of community members played the game on Sunday at Cardiff City Football Club.

From the age of nine, Corey participated in the club’s academy for eight years.

The funerals of Alesha O’Connor and her boyfriend Rhodri Miller drew hundreds of people.

There were bucket collections on the day of the game; however, admission to Cardiff City Stadium was free.

The funds were used to purchase a memorial bench for Corey Price at Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg, where he attended school in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.

The Cardiff City Academy training area also had a second bench, and the team hopes the game will become a yearly tradition.

On March 6, Corey and his two Barry-based buddies were traveling together when they collided close to Storey Arms, Brecon.

In the second car, Mrs. Challis, 66, of Merthyr Tydfil, was a passenger.

Following the collision, seven adolescent drivers who were detained on suspicion of reckless driving were released on bond.

Margaret Challis’s family declared that she had “everything to live for” following a successful brain tumor therapy.
