Reading confirm they’ve taken steps to ensure Birmingham City away end doesn’t spill over
Reading has decided on a ticket prior to this weekend’s League One matchup against Birmingham City.
As they get ready to host Birmingham City in a League One match this Saturday (12:30 pm kickoff), Reading has taken precautions
against the possibility that the away end would overflow into the home areas of their stadium.
The Blues have improved greatly since that night, and they are now nine points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand. They
will travel to the Select Car Leasing Stadium with the intention of extending their unbeaten run when they play the Royals in the
rematch of the season’s first game. A late penalty from Alfie May saved the Blues a point.
As is customary, Blues will have a sell-out away end on the day, having used up their whole allotment of just under 3,000. However,
Reading is getting ready for more Blues supporters to travel and is keen to prevent any issues on the day by refusing admission to any
Blues supporters without a ticket.
They have therefore introduced a sales criteria, to take effect immediately, ensuring that only Reading supporters with a certain
number of loyalty points or status can buy tickets for the other areas of the ground.
“Royals fans will only be able to purchase tickets if their Royals Account has a previous purchase history with either 25+ Loyalty Points
or a Legacy Status,” the announcement added. “The move is designed to prevent the possibility of visiting fans purchasing tickets in
the home sections and in turn ensure the safety of supporters, and will remain in place on matchday.”
The Blues are now on a 15-match unbeaten streak in League One, which dates back to November when they were surprised by
struggling Shrewsbury Town. They have only lost twice in the league this season, and both of those losses have occurred away from
home. With eight league games left at St Andrew’s, they are still undefeated at home.
