The in-demand Brazil forward continues to prove why he’s being linked with several top clubs, including Man Utd.
According to sources, Matheus Cunha is still a target for Manchester United even after agreeing to a new contract
term with Wolves.
After contract talks with Wolves dragged on, United was said to have expressed interest in the Brazilian forward
during the January transfer window. But earlier this month, he signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract that will
keep him with the team until the summer of 2029, securing his long-term future.
Cunha has so far scored 13 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions, making him a standout performer in Wolves’
fight against relegation this season. In Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool, he scored Wolves’ lone goal to increase his
total.
Even though he signed a new contract, there is still conjecture about his future because it is said to have a release
provision that goes into effect at the end of current season. Cunha would be reunited with his good friend Anthony if
a move to Old Trafford were to occur in the summer, provided he remained in the area, of course.
Since his loan move to Real Betis, the Brazilian has closely monitored his countryman Antony. Cunha left a comment
on Antony’s Instagram page after the player scored again during Betis’ 3-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
“That’s what it’s about my brother… Reinventing [yourself],” said Cunha in his letter.
If United were to pursue a deal, with their PSR situation likely to be much clearer at the end of the campaign, The
Daily Mail claims the price a club would have to pay this summer is £62.5million.
The 25-year-old is admired by Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa, so United isn’t the only team interested
in signing him. However, his current concentration is on assisting Wolves in preserving their Premier League
standing.
“I believe he is dedicated to us. “I will help the team to be in the Premier League next season,” Wolves head coach
Vitor Pereira stated this month in their most recent conversation.
“We’ll see at the end of the season. He is really dedicated to helping the squad, our teammates, and the organization.
