A Man died in prison after brutally attacking and killing his partner.

When Patryk Skupinksi killed 32-year-old Marlene Doyle at their Coventry apartment in January 2022, he was serving a life sentence.

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO), an independent organization, reported on Friday that Skupinski passed away on January 29 at HMP Gartree, which is located in Leicestershire close to Market Harborough.

The death of the 38-year-old was “being treated as unexplained at this time,” according to Leicestershire Police.

During a trial, Coventry Crown Court heard that Ms. Doyle’s body was not recovered for up to five days until being discovered on January 20, 2022.

According to West Midlands Police, she had experienced domestic violence before to her passing.

Skupinski’s mother and two other individuals were imprisoned for concealing him following his murder of Ms Doyle.

The death of an inmate at HMP Gartree was reported to police on Wednesday, January 29, according to a Leicestershire force spokesperson.

“Officers working for HM Coroner are conducting an inquiry into the man’s death, which is being handled as unexplained.

“No arrests have been made.”

“My office conducts independent investigations into deaths in custody, and we are looking into the death of Mr. Patryk Skupinski at HMP Gartree on January 29, 2025,” stated Ombudsman Adrian Usher.

“The investigation is under way and we will publish our final report on his death after the inquest has concluded.”

Every time someone dies while in detention in England or Wales, the PPO opens an investigation, the spokeswoman continued.
