James McFadden says ‘what many people thought’ would happen to Jota at Celtic hasn’t happened

Celtic defeated Dundee United 3-0 to get closer to capturing another Premiership title a few days after the disappointing Bayern Munich match.

Given that the lead at the top of the Premiership table is 13 points, it is a question of when, not if, the title will be won.

Jota scored against Dundee United, marking his first goal at Celtic Park since rejoining the team in January after playing for Rennes in Ligue 1.

Life never got rolling for the 25-year-old, who only joined the French team in the summer, and he never played 90 minutes for the team.

You would have thought that Jota would have required some time to get used to his new surroundings given his lack of game time and conditioning, but you would be mistaken.

In an interview with Sportscene, James McFadden praised Jota for “looking sharp” since coming back to Glasgow and said that “many people” believed he would “take time to get up to speed.”

It seems as though the former Jota has never departed, whether he is running from the left channel or facing the fullback one-on-one.

Brendan Rodgers benefits even more from that since it gives him a selection dilemma and muffles the clamor over Celtic’s failure to replace Kyogo Furuhashi last month.

McFadden remarked, “He looked sharp and has looked sharp since he came in.” “I believe a lot of people believed that he would need some time to catch up, but he was undoubtedly a serious threat, especially in the first half.

However, I like how he is positioned. He doesn’t feel compelled to come and touch the ball. He maintains his width. He can obtain that one-on-one since he is high up the pitch. He has an end product most of the time.

At least they know that goals, and nothing else, are required if Celtic is to defeat Bayern at the Allianz Arena.

In the first leg, Celtic appeared to be a much better team both with and without the ball when Jota entered the field and Daizen Maeda went down the center.

Will Rodgers start Maeda in the middle and the Portuguese star on the left? It is more than probable due to Jota’s sharpness, match fitness levels, and performances.
