Regis Le Bris compares ‘inconsistent’ Ahmed Abdullahi to unseen Sunderland gem as fight for first-team chance heats up
Regis Le Bris, the manager of Sunderland, has considered his alternatives in the final third, and one unexpected name has been mentioned.
The Black Cats’ primary goal during the January transfer window was to acquire a center-forward and a left-sided attacker, which they ultimately succeeded in doing with Jayden Danns and Enzo Le Fee filling the corresponding positions.
Regretfully for Sunderland, Danns, a loanee from Liverpool, arrived on Wearside with a minor injury that delayed his possible debut date in Regis Le Bris’ squad. As a result, the French manager has been unable to expand his options in the near future following the January window, at least until the 19-year-old recovers.
While Eliezer Mayenda has been assigned to come off the bench and Wilson Isidor has excelled for the Black Cats in recent weeks, Le Bris is still keeping an eye on his possibilities as two other names, including Ahmed Abdullahi, have been discussed.
However, due to Abdullahi’s injury issues, Le Bris has hinted that another player would be considered for the Black Cats’ first league game soon.

According to Sunderland Echo, the Frenchman chimed in on a debate concerning the Nigerian and fellow striker
Ogunsuyi amid enquiries about Abdullahi’s path to first-team play. He responded, “I don’t know exactly when
Ahmed will be available because it has been a little inconsistent for him.”
“He has demonstrated positive traits on the field, but at first, his prior ailments caused him some discomfort. He is
now settling into a nice rhythm, so if he can keep this up.
