Reading 2-1 Rotherham United: Football Match Bingo
This game was, in fact, “interesting.” In the event that Reading FC Football Match Bingo existed, we would have almost had a full house.

Really, we only needed an injury and—spoiler alert—not getting a penalty to finish the set.
(irony alert) Beloved Steve Evans arrived at Select Car Leasing Stadium on yet another chilly day that threatened rain but never materialized. Without a doubt, we faced a team that was very much led by Steve Evans. Rotherham United had some absolute man-mountains in their team that looked like they eat dumbbells for fun, and didn’t really seem too interested in attacking our goal all too often.
After the Shrewsbury Town setback, Reading’s starting lineup remained the same, maybe because they had something to show or because they didn’t have many other options.
Reading (4-3-3): Pereira: Knibbs, Wing, Savage; Campbell, Wareham, Ehibhatiomhan; Craig, Mbengue, Bindon, Garcia
Button, Abrefa, Holzman, Kanu, Rushesha, Camara, and Bodin are the substitutes.
Reading started the game with several dangerous runs and set pieces that stretched Rotherham’s defense, so maybe there was something to prove. Sadly, we were unable to capitalize on any of them.
One motif that emerged during the game was that we were able to significantly stretch Rotherham’s somewhat static backline when we ran there and made our passes count. As mentioned on these pages, we are much more straightforward in our passing under Noel Hunt than we were under his predecessor. While that isn’t always a bad thing, we were able to do the most damage to a Rotherham team that was full of physicality but lacked pace and a lot of skill when we did get down and play.
