“Everything is still open. It only takes another goal,” Nicolas Kühn
When Nicolas Kühn’s incredible goal against Bayern Munich was disallowed for Adam Idah’s obstruction of Manuel Neuer’s line of sight, he was devastated. Kühn and all of the Celtic fans watching at home and in the stadium believed we had pulled off the unthinkable by putting Bayern on the defensive right away, giving us a great start to the match and undermining the confidence of the opposition.
It was a case of close but no cigar on that occasion – as it always seems to be against the bigger sides throughout the years – and Rodgers himself must have been so gutted to see that one chopped off for a minor imposition. We never managed to get to the half-time whsitle without conceidng and that equally stunning goal from Michael Olise had been coming, as we had soaked up a tremendous amount of pressure for 10 or so minutes beforehand.
The players and supporters will have hope going into Tuesday’s return leg in Germany thanks to Kühn’s goal early on, which shown that this Bayern team can be defeated. Even though we have lost the battle, Kühn acknowledges that there is still hope and that the conflict is not necessarily over. “As a club, I know Bayern is confident, but I don’t think they’ll think the tie is over,” he stated. “They will do all in their power to win in the Allianz Arena, but we will do the same. Although winning the game would have benefited us, there is still hope for the second game. I’m hoping we can have a
“We observed that the counterattack presented us with opportunity. However, we may also be effective in possession if we hold onto the ball. There will be opportunities, but there are times when we need to play better. We are able to believe. In the league phase, we have already scored goals. We are playing well and should be able to score more goals there. Bayern is really talented, and we know they can generate a lot of opportunities. However, I believed our defense against them was strong. Naturally, the goal just before halftime was not a nice moment.
He said in the Daily Record that “the corner was a little bit too easy for them.” “We cannot allow one of the world’s top strikers to receive a second hall in that manner. However, the 2-1 victory gives us strength, and we are now eager for the match in Germany. It’s all still open. All we need is one more objective, and we’ll be sketching. We will do everything in our power.
“It would have been unbelievable,” Kühn continued, referring to the goal he scored himself. I hoped that it wasn’t offside. It was bad luck. Since I don’t believe Adam touched anything, I was unaware of it at the time. He was in the line of sight, I believe they stated. For a little while, it was rather pleasant.
Throughout the entire game, there was an insane amount of noise. The supporters were outstanding. We improved significantly over the past 30 minutes and generated several opportunities. There is still some distance to go in the tie.”
