£250,000 cost of Blackburn Rovers swoop for 44-year-old managerial candidate emerges
Alan Nixon has stated that Blackburn Rovers will need to spend £250,000 in order to hire Richie Wellens from
Leyton Orient as their next manager.
John Eustace chose to leave Blackburn Rovers for Championship rival Derby County, so the team is searching for a
new manager.
Since then, David Lowe, the first-team coach, has led the temporary management team to two victories. While a
permanent manager is being sought, the Ewood Park mainstay has kept the playoff push going rather nicely.
Richie Wellens, the manager of Leyton Orient, was one of several names that were first connected to the position.
With the O’s, he has drawn attention and guided them into the League One play-off battle in addition to a strong FA
Cup run.
Now, after the initial rumours of interest in Wellens, reporter Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon that Leyton Orient
will demand £250,000 from Blackburn Rovers or anybody else that wants to take the manager off their hands.
The 44-year-old is definitely on Rovers’ wish list, but an appointment will cost.
Nixon adds that the Championship side are set to see applicants over the coming week. Gary O’Neil and other
international candidates are on the shortlist.
