Sunderland legend issues Leeds United warning as he points out starting XI difference

Sunderland legend Gary Bennett has issued a warning to Leeds United ahead of their Championship showdown on Monday.

 

Sunderland icon Gary Bennett has issued a stern warning to Leeds United about the threat his former club poses ahead of their pivotal Championship encounter on Monday evening. With the match set to kick off at 8pm, Daniel Farke’s team is set to welcome their promotion foes to Elland Road, where they sit seven points apart in the standings.

 

United recently clinched a sizeable 4-0 victory over Watford this Tuesday night, while Sunderland bounced back into the win column against Luton Town.

 

The Whites, who’ve found their stride in recent weeks, will be determined to maintain their hot streak, having kept clean sheets in their last five league outings. Moreover, Elland Road has been a stronghold for Farke’s squad throughout the season, where they’ve notched up an impressive 36 points from just 12 matches.

Yet, Bennett suggests that since the two teams squared off to an even 2-2 draw back in October, Sunderland has made considerable strides. Sharing his insights on BBC Radio Newcastle, Bennett noted: “Leeds are the best team that we’ve seen at the Stadium of Light. They’re the best team we’ve come up against but I think we’ve developed,” he explained.
