A guy was shot by police on Saturday afternoon at a home in Mayfield, and a critical incident investigation is currently under progress.
Emergency services were summoned to Hanbury Street at approximately 4:10 p.m. on February 15th in response to a welfare concern.
When a man raced from a unit block towards police, officers from Newcastle City Police District arrived.
He was said to have carried a butcher cleaver.
The man was shot by police after an attempted taser attempt.
The man, who was reportedly in his 40s, was brought to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.
Before the paramedics from NSW Ambulance arrived, officers helped him right away.
No other reports of injuries have surfaced.
The incident’s circumstances will now be examined by a critical incident investigation team.
Additionally, it is up for independent assessment.
