Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds beaten 2-1 in Premier League clash at Craven Cottage
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo admitted his formation choice “didn’t work out” as Nottingham Forest fell to a 2-1 defeat at Fulham.
The Reds boss stuck with the same team that had thumped Brighton and Hove Albion 7-0 at the City Ground in their last Premier League game. It meant a back three of Morato, Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo, but this time the outcome was very different.
Forest struggled to deal with balls into the box, with Emile Smith Rowe and Calvin Bassey heading in either side of a Chris Wood equaliser. The visitors looked better when they switched to their more familiar 4-2-3-1 shape at 2-1 down, but they were unable to level for a second time.
Asked if, with hindsight, he should have changed system sooner, Nuno said: “We have to look at the game. We have to know that the change gave us more width and more things we are used to.
“But at the same time, the contacts in the box from the crosses were not there. We were rushing a little bit.
“There are so many things I would do differently now. Now it is about looking at the game and preparing for the next one.
