Exclusive: Kieran Tierney agrees record-breaking Celtic deal
According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Kieran Tierney has reached an incredible agreement with Celtic that will make him the team’s highest paid player.
Senior journalist Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the 27-year-old will break all salary records at Parkhead but will not receive “anywhere near” what he is currently making at Arsenal.
Because Celtic has a rigid compensation structure and rarely offer players enormous salaries, they are very different from the Premier League elite. For this reason, Tierney has accepted a “substantial pay cut” in order to rejoin his boyhood club.
As he gets ready to go north of the line, the Scotland international will still receive the highest salary and a big signing-on bonus.
The veteran defender will enhance the team, according to Brendan Rodgers, making the compensation fees justified.
In an effort to advance the team in Europe, Rodgers is trying to expand his choices within the squad.
When Tierney rejoins Celtic, he may be paid highly, but according to reliable sources, this shouldn’t cause problems with the team’s present players.
While Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers are also significant earners at the club, others are scheduled to receive rewards.
Although he is aware that the club will probably need to pay high salaries to entice them to Scotland in the first place, Rodgers sees it as a chance to advance.
Having made 129 appearances for Arsenal throughout his tenure with the Gunners, the full-back is a seasoned defender at the highest level of football.
However, having only made five appearances this season across all competitions, Tierney has recently lost favor with the team.
Tierney has played 170 games during his first stint at the club, demonstrating his ability to compete at the highest level in Scotland.
