‘Absolute farce’ message sent as Nottingham Forest update provokes fierce response

The timing of Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup fifth-round matchup with Ipswich Town has drawn criticism from supporters.

The Reds overcame a scare in the middle of the week to play the Tractor Boys at home. Although the City Ground match’s date and time have been established, many fans are not pleased.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, March 3. ITV4 will broadcast the match live. According to Forest, ticket details will be confirmed later.

The Monday night schedule follows Tuesday night’s fourth-round trip to Exeter City by Nuno Espirito Santo’s team and a horde of travelling supporters, which included a lengthy stoppage due to Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury and went into extra time and penalties. The team returned to base after flying back from Devon after 2am, and many supporters returned to Nottingham even later. The idea of another evening kickoff sparked a strong reaction on social media.

“The only FA Cup games I can actually get tickets for my son (who is nine years old and has a junior membership) to watch Forest together without the luck of the ballot,” a fan wrote on X. I have no hope of taking him to a Monday night game because we live two hours away.
