The decision by Evangelos Marinakis to replace Chris Hughton with Steve Cooper was a huge win for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds were at the bottom of the Championship when the Welshman joined the team, but within a few months,

they were a serious contender for promotion.

For the first time in 23 years, Forest made it to the Premier League after defeating Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the final

of the end-of-season play-offs at Wembley.

But if Forest had taken a different route, things may have turned out differently. For instance, Marinakis was eager

to choose Chris Wilder, while Dane Murphy was crucial in selecting Cooper.

The person now in charge of Forest is Nuno Espirito Santo. Jamie Redknapp has given Espirito Santo a lot of praise

this season, and the Reds supporters are fully behind the head coach.

Jiri Muller, the agent for the Slavia Prague manager, has been interviewing the Czech publication iDNES about his

client and his professional experiences.

As it turns out, Trpisovky was given offers from Brighton and Forest, and the current Slavia manager turned down

the opportunity to relocate to the City Ground.

Muller stated: “Mino was certain that Jindra would fit into his club puzzle when Pavel Nedvěd was at Juventus.” It

was unsuccessful. After Nottingham called, Mino made another attempt: Jindra, this is your chance, your mission in

life.

“Slavia was closer to him, which we had to respect. Only Mino didn’t forgive himself the remark: Nottingham Forest

is a world brand, and if you return them to the Premier League, it will be a thousand times greater success than

winning the title three times in a row with Slavia.

“And he didn’t want to reduce the quality of the Czech league by doing so. Anyway, look at the Premier League table.”

This would have been a massive risk for Forest to take given that he’s only managed in lesser leagues than the

Premier League or Championship.

Forest employed the likes of Sabri Lamouchi and Philippe Montainer as foreign options to try and get the Reds back

to the top flight but with limited success.

Trpisovsky has a respectable track record in his past positions, but hiring him at Forest would hardly have sparked a

promotion campaign.

Fortunately, Cooper was the tried-and-true choice that Forest chose, and he made it a third time fortunate for him in

his own personal attempt to win the playoffs.
