
After a distinguished career, former Leicester City striker Martyn Waghorn has announced his retirement from professional football.
Despite playing for an incredible 13 clubs during his career, Leicester City supporters will always remember Waghorn for his four years at the King Power Stadium.
Waghorn, a young player with a fresh face, joined on loan from Sunderland, a Premier League team at the time, for the 2009–10 season. He quickly won over the fans, scoring 12 goals in 43 games.
The attacker only scored eight more goals in three years at Leicester before joining Wigan Athletic following two loan stints, but he would make the move permanent the following season.
Before retiring at the age of 35, Waghorn would play for Rangers, Huddersfield Town, Derby County, Coventry City, and most recently, Northampton Town.
The Leicester cult legend has now received a tonne of messages wishing him a happy retirement.

Waghorn confirmed that he was ending his playing career in a post on Instagram. In addition to his family, friends, and former coaches, the 35-year-old acknowledged each team he has played for for contributing to his amazing professional career.
It should come as no surprise that a ton of his old players and even managers, like former Leicester teammate Andy King and Derby County coach Frank Lampard, poured their thoughts into the comments section.

Waghorn’s professional records
Leicester supporters will reflect on some of Waghorn’s best moments at the club as he ends a remarkable career.
He finished his Foxes career with 20 goals and 13 assists in 116 games, including some amazing moments of brilliance during the 2009–10 season.
It is noteworthy that he made the second-most appearances for Leicester out of all clubs, with the most appearances for Derby County, where he scored 37 goals in 150 games.
