Eight arrested after violent disorder in two towns

Eight males are being questioned on charges of violent disturbance, and one person is in the hospital after police were called to two towns in South Wales.

Four persons were sent to the hospital following an incident on Blackwood High Street in Caerphilly county at around 14:45 GMT on Thursday.

Three of these have since been released.

According to Gwent Police, the disorder was linked to violence 10 minutes later in Newbridge, also in Caerphilly County.

“We have arrested eight men on suspicion of violent disorder; they are all currently in custody,” said Detective Inspector Elaine Newbury.

“Although these two reports of disorder appear to be linked, we are treating this as an isolated incident and not linked to previous anti-social behaviour reported in Blackwood or Newbridge.”

Det Insp Newbury stated that cops will remain in these two areas to address any issues raised by people.

None of the injuries sustained by persons involved in the condition are considered life-threatening or life-changing.
