Breaking: Blackburn Rovers confirm John Eustace exit as Derby County set to announce arrival.
DerbyshireLive has the latest Derby County news, with Rovers confirming Eustace’s departure.
Blackburn Rovers have announced John Eustace’s departure, with the former Birmingham manager poised to be confirmed as Derby County’s new manager.
Rovers announced this morning that Eustace is leaving Ewood Park to join another Championship team.
His assistants, Matt Gardiner and Keith Downing, will both depart and go to Pride Park to form his backroom staff.
The Rovers statement read: “Blackburn Rovers can confirm that John Eustace has left his position as Head Coach to take up a position with another Championship club.”
“While we are disappointed by his decision to leave at this critical point in the season, we fully understand that the opportunity to be closer to his family and return to a former club played a significant role in his decision.”
“The club had hoped that John would finish the season and continue the wonderful work he has done, especially after strengthening the team in January and leading us to a solid league position.
“However, with 14 games remaining and a real possibility to make the play-offs, our emphasis remains on reaching our goals.
“Football is always developing, and while we say goodbye to John Eustace, this also gives a wonderful chance for the incoming head coach to improve on our current strong position.
“We are in a solid league position, and the collaboration of the players, staff, and supporters can all play a significant role in ensuring a successful season finale.
“We’d like to thank John Eustace and his helpers, Matt Gardiner and Keith Downing, for their devotion and hard work over the last year. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.
“David Lowe will continue to take temporary charge of first-team affairs, supported by Damien Johnson, Ben Benson, Mike Sheron and Paul Butler, until a permanent successor is appointed.”
