Real Madrid believe Arsenal’s £27m player is already on the level of Jude Bellingham

Although Los Blancos are building one of the greatest teams in international football in recent memory, there is undoubtedly one area that needs improvement.

As they continue to attract Europe’s best players to the Spanish city, the 15-time European champions are now turning their attention to North London.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Real Madrid considers William Saliba to be the “Jude Bellingham of defenders.”

The Frenchman is viewed by the Spanish powerhouses as a player they wish to center their defense on going forward.

“There is no doubt that people internally at Real Madrid see William Saliba as a superstar, a fantastic defender,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

He is regarded as one of the world’s top defenders at Real Madrid, and some people even call him the Bellingham of defenders. A player who can be the foundation of their future, a top player both today and in the future.

Arsenal, who paid £27 million for Saliba in 2019, will undoubtedly fight hard to keep him, though, as Mikel Arteta is keen to have him at the center of his defense.

The Gunners will need to decide whether to offer Saliba a new deal as he has two years left on his current one, which expires in June 2027.

“However, we must keep in mind that Mikel Arteta and the club view William Saliba as an essential component of this project; the contract is still lengthy, and they are adamant about their intention to stick with William Saliba,” Romano continued.

“As of right now, no club-to-club contact has begun, and Arsenal will not make it easy for any club interested in William Saliba, but Real Madrid’s gratitude is undeniable.”
