Premier League, FA and PGMOL issue major joint statement ahead of Nottingham Forest match

In seven of the eight FA Cup fifth-round matches, semi-automated offside technology will be used for the first time in English football.

With the exception of the Preston vs. Burnley match, the technology will be utilized at every Premier League match held at venues.Ipswich Town hosts Nottingham Forest.

Later in the season, the Premier League plans to implement the technology in its competition, according to a statement released Thursday morning.

The Premier League anticipates that SAOT will cut offside check times by an average of thirty-one seconds.

All eight matches will use VAR, according to a joint announcement from Professional Game Match Officials Ltd., the Football Association, and the Premier League.

On the new offside system, the Premier League collaborated with Genius Sports, a technology supplier.

It was initially intended to be introduced in the Premier League during one of the international breaks in the previous autumn, but deadlines came and passed.
