Celtic had Bayern Munich ‘hanging on’ says Brendan Rodgers as he issues stars ‘one last shot’ instruction
BRENDAN RODGERS insists Celtic’s Champions League dream is alive and kicking.
Harry Kane put Bayern Munich 2-0 up when he added to Michael Olise’s Parkhead opener.
But Daizen Maeda’s late header has given Celtic a lifeline going to Germany for Tuesday’s second leg.
Rodgers said: “We are still right in the tie and it was about staying alive in the game.
“We have one more shot so let’s go to Munich and have no regrets.
“This is a new level for a lot of the players and they have done absolutely great.

Nicolas Kuhn had a goal disallowed after just 25 seconds due to Adam Idah being offside as Celtic started well.
But Bayern took control and Michael Olise fired them ahead moments before the break with a thumping finish.
Harry Kane added a second after being left unmarked at a corner – but Celtic finished strongly.
Bayern survived a VAR penalty check after Dayot Upamecano caught Arne Engels.
And Maeda then headed in from close range to give Celtic hope ahead of next week’s return in Munich.
Rodgers said: “I thought we’d got off to the perfect start but the goal wasn’t given.
“We were a bit passive in our pressing early on but we were stable without the ball.
“It was about us being more aggressive in the second half but one player you don’t leave unmarked at a corner is arguably the best striker in world football!
“At 2-0, we made the changes but we were pressing in the last 25 minutes and were more active at the top end.
“You then see what it brought, our football came alive and we got the goal.
“Bayern were hanging on then at 2-1 and that is what we can take from the game.”
Bayern star Kane admits Rodgers’ men made it tough for them – but hopes to finish the tie off in Munich.
He said: “It was okay, you can always be pleased to win a game like this, because it’s not an easy place to play.
“There were areas where we can be better and will need to improve for next week.
“It was a shame to concede but they put us under pressure and we now take the lead back home.
“They had momentum at the start and we knew we had to be patient.
“We scored at the right times, Michael’s special quality opened the game up and then we had control after our second.
