Two men killed, aged 41 and 84, in A66 Long Newton crash
Both of the guys, who were 41 and 84 years old, were declared dead at the spot.
Just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, a black Nissan Qashqai and a red Vauxhall Astra collided on the
eastbound carriageway at Long Newton.
The road was stopped and drivers were advised to stay away from the area while emergency personnel raced to the
site. Despite their efforts, paramedics were unable to save either man.
Specialised policemen are providing support to their families.
Overnight, crash investigators were observed at the location, and an investigation is still in progress.
“The road was closed for more than eight hours overnight while emergency services attempted to save the men, and specialist officers conducted an investigation of the scene,” a Cleveland Police official stated.
“Anyone who has dashcam footage, witnessed the collision, or knows anything about the circumstances leading up to the collision is asked to call 101 and provide reference number 25064.”
According to National Highways, the route reopened on Wednesday, February 12, at around six in the morning.
