Watch- Brendan Rodgers reacts to Daizen Maeda reprieve

Over the weekend, Brendan Rodgers was trying to figure out how to replace his very productive forward, Daizen Maeda, who had scored six goals in his last three games. In addition to missing the final group encounter against Aston Villa, Maeda would also have to miss a further game as a result of an additional punishment for his reckless red card in the last stages of the Champions League triumph over YB Bern.

The loss of Maeda following Kyogo Furuhashi’s transfer to Rennes was a double blow, but Celtic announced at 8.30 p.m. on Monday, 48 hours before start, that they had successfully appealed against the second match of the suspension.

He is a superb athlete. In addition to his goals this season, I think his honesty and pressing in the game have made him a key member of the team. Thus, having that attitude and that ability at hand was a welcome surprise.

Since he wasn’t anticipated to be ready to play against Bayern, Rodgers made fun of the late timing of the respite by remarking that he had utilized him for every minute of the previous three games.

The only member of the top team missing tomorrow’s game is James Forrest, as Kasper Schmeichel returned to training today.

Jota, Jeffrey Schluup, and Johnny Kenny have been added to the UEFA squad, while Kyogo, Luis Palma, and Stephen Welsh have been withdrawn.
