Dons supporters will be expecting to catch their first glimpse of their new addition at Dundee this weekend. The Palestine international has come on loan from Charleroi, with the option to purchase, and has been given permission to begin training with his Dons teammates.
Thelin made the announcement: “He is here and will train with the team this week and get him ready for the games.” The 26-year-old will improve Aberdeen’s attacking options.Kevin Nisbet has struggled to score goals in recent weeks. The Scotland international made a horrible miss against Dunfermline, but Thelin complimented him for recovering and scoring. The Swede remarked, “He has worked really hard on the training pitch and improves every week. I could see his smile as he scored; he was overjoyed and relieved. It’s excellent for both him and us.
The Dons completed a successful weekend by advancing to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals tonight. The Red Army also signed another newcomer Mats Koester, who made his debut over the weekend. His manager believes he shown his defensive importance as well as his ability to spark assaults.
“Mats also put on a good performance and everybody is doing what they can to get in shape to play games for us,” says Thelin. “He did some really good things and was important in how we started attacks.”Also, he hasn’t played much, so we have to tread carefully. “What he can bring to the team is important for us and especially in the build-up and how we attack.”
Koester paired Kristers Tobers in the center of the defense. Thelin reported that Slobodan Rubezic was unwell and had to leave his squad. He informed me: “He was selected for the squad but then he felt unwell.”So we removed him from the squad. “We have some small issues within the staff and players and we don’t want anyone to get sick now.”
Aberdeen will now try to carry the confidence and feel-good factor from the cup success into the league, where they want to earn three Premiership points at the 15th attempt. The Dons head to Dundee on Saturday.
Thelin said, “We need to regroup and plan for the coming week. We have to examine how we constructed and attacked. That’s what we need to do more of and focus on the positive aspects.”
