Alexander Jensen scored his first Aberdeen goal as the club returned to winning ways, knocking Dunfermline out of the Scottish Cup.

The Dons defeated the Pars by three goals to zero and advanced to the final eight, despite their 14-game Premiership losing streak.

Aberdeen will meet Queen’s Park, a lower league team, in the cup quarter finals, which were drawn yesterday night.

After defeating Elgin City in the previous round, the team hopes to make a comeback in the Premiership this time around.

According to Jimmy Thelin, Aberdeen’s success in the Dunfermline game may be attributed to their direct play and clean sheets.

His summer signing agrees.

Jensen discusses the Aberdeen change.

The Danish full-back believed his team had been performing a lot of useless passing in previous games, but this time they played with conviction.

That made them more dangerous in the last third, and they were rewarded.

He stated, “I felt okay about the final two league games. We dominated the game on the pitch, but we failed in the final third to be truly dangerous.

“We had a lot of possession and were passing it around too much. We discussed how we needed to be more direct and hazardous.

“I believe we did extremely well on Sunday. We carried out the plans we had discussed all week.

“Of course, there are things you can do better and there were things we could improve but it was a step in the right direction.”

Jensen scored his first goal for Pittodrie, followed by a second after half-time to give them a vital advantage.

On that, he added: “I really took a horrible touch that took it outside, but sometimes it may help when it is a little bad and the shot has gone through. It was nice to see.

“I’ve gotten some lucky breaks at times. I’d love to add to it and score more goals. Perhaps I can do that here. “That would be a good sign.”
