Police make shocking discovery as gun found in Salford park

Police discovered a gun in a park in Salford.

Officers made the horrifying discovery at Eccles’ Ivy Street park early today. Greater Manchester Police stated that the firearm was’made secure at the scene’.
Residents said they saw forensics police working in the neighborhood this afternoon (February 8). According to the force, officers and a canine team were dispatched to look for any more ‘concerning things’, but no further discoveries were discovered.
A representative for Greater Manchester Police stated, “Police attended Ivy Park in Salford this afternoon (Saturday, February 8, 2025) and recovered a firearm, which was made safe at the scene.” We conducted a comprehensive investigation of the area using our specialist resources, including our canine team, and no more suspicious objects were discovered.

“We understand that the news of this recovery will cause alarm and concern, and we hope to reassure members of the public that, based on preliminary investigations, we do not believe there is a larger threat to the community.” “Our investigations are ongoing.”
