Highlights and Reactions as Bournemouth progress past Everton in FA Cup

AFC Bournemouth enjoyed their last visit to Goodison Park so much that they decided to make an unexpected return before Everton’s relocation to Liverpool Docklands, this time in the FA Cup fourth round.

Everton were back in form after David Moyes returned after more than a decade away, while Liverpool ended the Cherries’ unbeaten streak.

With the Cherries suffering from injuries, would AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola rotate his players to spare fatigued legs? He made three changes, withdrawing Justin Kluivert for academy product Ben Winterburn and starting Daniel Jebbison after a difficult loan spell with Championship club Watford. Everything else was pretty much the same, with midfielder Lewis Cook still playing as a makeshift right-back and a substitution bench that included two goalkeepers and four players from the development team.

Antoine Semenyo was hauled down for a penalty, which he confidently took himself, before Jebbison scored his second goal of the match to give the visitors a two-goal lead at halftime.

The fifth round draw will take held tonight (10th February) on BBC One somewhere between 7 and 7.30 p.m.

Following the match, Iraola told the Daily Echo…

“This is not about looking at a run. You have to earn the right to play one more game, it’s what we won today.
“For me, the draw is very important in this kind of competitions. But whatever the draw we have, we will be fighting next round to play, I think if we win, FA cup quarterfinals
“…These competitions are about not just how you play. It’s about soul, it’s about belief, it’s about the willingness to sacrifice whatever is needed to go to the next round.
“And I trust that we have this, even in a young team.
“I think they are adding experience. Zaba, Milos are players that are really young, but they’ve been there before, they’ve played a good amount of games.
“So it’s not like they are immature. I think they are adding solidity to their game.”
