‘Bittersweet’ Huddersfield Town debut for Wolves loanee Tawanda Chirewa

‘Bittersweet’ Huddersfield Town debut for Wolves loanee Tawanda Chirewa

The youthful player attracted attention during Saturday’s goalless draw at John Smith’s Stadium.

After Huddersfield Town’s 0-0 draw with Reading, Tawanda Chirewa, a loanee, reflected on his “bittersweet” debut.

The 21-year-old was immediately included in the starting lineup for Saturday’s draw at John Smith’s Stadium. Josh

Koroma then took the attacker’s place in the 66th minute.

Despite being upset that his new team was unable to win, the Wolves recruit relished his first game as a Town player.

“I found it a good performance from me, but obviously it was a bit bittersweet that we didn’t get the win, I didn’t get

to have some end product like I wanted to. To finish off the losing streak we were on, it’s a good start,” Chirewa told

BBC Radio Leeds.

“I thought I gave a good performance, but it was obviously a little bittersweet that we lost and that I wasn’t able to

have the final product I had hoped for.” To finish off the losing streak we were on, it’s a good start,” Chirewa told

BBC Radio Leeds.

With Saturday’s stalemate, the Terriers ended a run of three consecutive losses and dropped to fifth place in League

One. Chirewa went on to evaluate the match against the eighth-place Royals, saying: “We were patient in the first

half, passing the ball side to side and creating chances, but it didn’t end in a goal.

The game clearly altered in the second half. The game turned out that way because they placed a lot of pressure on us

and we had to adjust.

“Hopefully we could’ve scored a chance, with Freddie’s (Ladapo) at the end, or in the first half. I had a couple of

chances, Dion (Charles) had a couple of chances, Cal (Callum Marshall) had a couple of chances, so another day they

go in, and hopefully next week we can start this winning streak.”
