Reading FC club captain nears return to action after featuring for U21s
After playing for the under-21 team last week, Reading FC club captain Andy Yiadom moved one step closer to returning to senior action.
Yiadom has been out since April of last year due to a knee issue that has plagued him for a number of months.
Though he acknowledged that he still has some work to do, boss Noel Hunt acknowledged that the full-back was getting closer to rejoining the first squad.
Yiadom came off the bench for about 30 minutes of crucial game time during Reading U21’s 3-1 triumph over Aston Villa last Friday.
The 33-year-old Yiadom moved to Berkshire from Barnsley on a free transfer in 2018.
He has since made almost 200 appearances while wearing a Royals shirt, and if he fully recovers from his injury, he hopes to make even more.
Moving forward This season, Adrian Akande, who has played for the first team, also returned from injury and scored a goal to celebrate.
Akande has made ten appearances in League One this season and has scored one goal, which came during Reading’s thrilling 5-3 FA Cup victory over non-league Harborough Town in the competition’s third round.
