Premier League manager explains why he did not allow Leeds United to sign his £5m striker

Daniel Farke was certain that his Leeds team had enough to play the second half of the season when Joe Gelhardt finalized a loan move to Hull City. However, Patrick Bamford’s injury was usually a setback.

Bamford, a striker who hasn’t been fully healthy for the past three years, is expected to return to training, according to Farke’s update earlier this week. Leeds needed a new striker, according to many.

Farke explained why it was challenging to add a new player in January, despite Leeds’ efforts to get Cameron Archer. Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph are currently Leeds’ only top-level options.

By the end of January, Leeds was connected to a £5 million Chelsea striker.

Numerous strikers, including Gelhardt’s new teammate Louie Barry of Hull City and Dor Turgeman of Maccabi Tel Aviv, were connected to Leeds. Leeds pushed until the last minutes of January, but they were unable to get one in.

Another was Marc Guiu, who Chelsea signed for £5 million. The Spaniard has scored six goals in six Europa Conference League appearances while seeing very little substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Guiu was linked to Leeds one day prior to the deadline. However, after substituting for Guiu in the victory over West Ham, Enzo Maresca announced a week later that the player could miss months due to a groin injury.

Regarding Guiu’s injury, Chelsea manager Maresca said, “Marc unfortunately has a bad injury.” Although we are still waiting, the injury doesn’t appear to be minor. It appears to be a long injury. I’m not sure how long exactly.
