Moyes pulled plug on Batshuayi deal after what Everton boss was told

Moyes pulled plug on Batshuayi deal after what Everton boss was told.

Everton Batshuayi Moyes

Everton planned to add a striker during the winter, but David Moyes decided against acquiring one when claims surfaced.

Due to injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja, the Toffees need depth in the number nine position.

Beto is the only fit striker available for the L4 club, since Yossef Chermiti remains injured.

As a result, an acquisition during the most recent transfer window would have made sense, but one alternative was rejected by the Scottish manager at Goodison.

David Moyes rejected down Michy Batshuayi’s offer at Everton.

According to Alan Nixon, the former Manchester United manager was looking for prospective recruits during the winter, with Michy Batshuayi being assessed on Merseyside.

On February 9, the journalist reported to his Patreon that background checks were conducted on the 31-year-old for a prospective loan.

Moyes declined to sign the Belgium international on a temporary contract until the conclusion of the season, despite reports.

Instead, the former Chelsea striker left Galatasaray to join Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent basis.

Everton are better off without Michy Batshuayi.

There is no question that a top striker signing would have been highly greeted in L4 during the winter transfer window.

Toffees might benefit from an influx of goals, as Calvert-Lewin is considering a summer departure and Beto has yet to establish himself.

Having said that, Batshuayi would not be a sure upgrade over what is presently available on Merseyside, therefore a move made little sense.

It’s obviously encouraging to see Moyes and Co. reject down a deal, preferring to wait until a later window to sign the correct player rather than the only available alternative.

The Scot backed his Guinea-Bissau international striker, who scored twice against Leicester City.

If the 27-year-old maintains his current form, the Toffees will not regret missing out on Batshuayi, regardless of how he performs in Germany over the second half of the season.
