Massive Blaze Erupts on Residential Street, 70 Firefighters Struggle to Contain Destructive Fire

Dozens of firefighters are battling a large fire on a residential street in West London. Shortly about 8.20 p.m., bright orange flames and smoke were spotted coming from a property on Rosaville Road.

The London Fire Brigade reported that the first story and top of a mid-terraced structure were on fire. However, it is clear that no one was inside at the time. Ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters were summoned.

LFB’s 999 control officers have received 29 calls regarding the fire.

Firefighters from Wimbledon, Brixton, Park Royal, Peckham, Wandsworth, and surrounding stations are on the scene.

Don Cochrane, who shared a video, said, “Yes, everything was fine; the house was being renovated.” It comes after a three-story warehouse near Brixton Market caught fire earlier tonight, requiring 100 firefighters to arrive on the site. People are believed to have been evacuated from the area as images showed an inferno and a pillar of smoke rising into the sky. Firefighters are still battling the blaze on Electric Avenue, off Electric Lane. The neighbouring roads have been closed.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers were first called just before 9 p.m., and they have received 53 calls about the event. Europe is currently undergoing an exceptional heat wave, and many fear that it may increase the problem of burning.
