Footballer in police car crash outside stadium

A Leeds United footballer collided with a police cruiser outside the club’s Elland Road stadium.

Charlie Cresswell was driving his Land Rover Defender when the accident occurred at approximately 10:15 BST on Thursday.

Adam Pope of BBC Radio Leeds stated that the event was a “minor collision” as the defender turned into the West Stand car park.

West Yorkshire Police informed the Press Association that a police officer was treated for minor injuries and that no one else was injured in the crash.

The force stated that investigations into the event were ongoing.

Leeds United will play Norwich City on Thursday night in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final.

The first leg ended 0–0 at Carrow Road on Sunday, and the winner advanced to the play-off final at Wembley Stadium on May 26.
