Celtic vs Kilmarnock handball goal review by SFA chief.

Willie Collum thinks that the laws are clear regarding Kilmarnock’s goal scored at Celtic Park during last month’s Scottish Cup clash, which finished 2-1 for the Hoops. Bobby Wales, a talented teenager, levelled before halftime by prodding home past Kasper Schmeichel at the back post. The ball landed to the 19-year-old after deflecting off Robbie Deas and appearing to strike his arm. However, after studying the footage and VAR audio with Gordon Duncan on the newest VAR Review show on YouTube, Collum believes this goal should remain.

He said, “We are extremely comfortable here. I would hope, Gordon, that when we display this video, the majority of people agree. This is pretty straightforward in terms of legal. “I’d like to compliment the on-field referee for his exceptional communication skills. We’ve worked extremely hard this season to ensure that what the on-field referee sees is relayed effectively to the VAR crew.

“There is no doubt that it hits the Kilmarnock player’s arm, but it is in a normal position, and they even suggest he is attempting to avoid contact. “If the ball drops at his feet and he scores, we will invalidate the goal in accordance with the laws. “However, the ball goes to another player, who puts it in. In terms of legislation, this is absolutely true. “It’s straightforward for us. I reiterate, I hope the majority of people who watch this clip understand that this was a clear purpose.”
