Blackburn Rovers completed their winter transfer window with one final addition: Emmanuel Dennis joined John Eustace’s side.
The striker had been exiled at Nottingham Forest since returning from a loan spell at Watford last season, and this month would undoubtedly offer him with an opportunity to go. That opportunity came on deadline day, as Blackburn strengthened their front line by signing him on loan until the end of the season. According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, via his Patreon service, Blackburn CEO Steve Wagott negotiated a deal in which the club will fund just £20,000 per week, plus bonuses, of Dennis’ reputed £80,000 per week salary. This is a fantastic piece of business, and if the 27-year-old can find the form that made him a standout in the Premier League, he might be the key to Rovers achieving a top-six finish.

To gain an Ewood Park perspective on the signing of Dennis, Football League World spoke with their resident Rovers commentator, Simon Middlehurst acknowledged his delight at the agreement for the former Hornets striker. “I think it is actually a bargain when you look at how much players are being paid these days,” Middlehurst told reporters. “He is an excellent value for someone with experience scoring goals in the Championship and Premiership. “Hopefully, once he gets going, he can add a bit more firepower to Blackburn and starts pushing us up that league table.”
Emmanuel Dennis will be looking to rediscover 2021-22 form
While the striker’s loan stay at Watford was not totally successful last season, he will look to emulate his great form from 2021-22. Despite the Hornets’ relegation that season, the 27-year-old scored ten goals and assisted six others. The attacker was also essential in commanding the defence from the front, and if he wants to do so at Blackburn, we could see him return to this role.

Eustace will undoubtedly be hoping for this, knowing that when Dennis is at his peak, he is one of the division’s best strikers. The head coach’s task will be to take this away from him, and if he succeeds, Blackburn might return to the promised land of the Premier League.
