‘Phenomenal’ – Blackburn Rovers man hailed by former striker Chris Sutton

Former Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton says manager John Eustace has done a ‘phenomenal’ job.

Blackburn Rovers are currently in fifth place in the Championship table. Rovers are in the play-offs, alongside Sheffield United, Sunderland, and West Brom.

This Saturday, the Lancashire side will face the Premier League’s Wolves at Ewood Park in the FA Cup fourth round. Last month, they defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 in the last round.

Sutton predicts a 2-1 loss after extra-time on Sunday, but praises Eustace’s efforts to keep the team in the top six despite limited signings. Rovers’ difficulty is scoring goals; Yuki Ohashi is out injured, and Makhtar Gueye isn’t very productive; Andreas Weimann leads the team with eight goals this season.

“They are sturdy enough, however, with the likes of Callum Brittain, who has probably been Blackburn’s finest player this season, alongside Dom Hyam and Danny Batth in defence. They have all been enormous. It was also vital to get Lewis Travis back from his injury. He is the true driving force in the middle of the park.”

Blackburn Rovers’ John Eustace hailed

Eustace has been in charge of Blackburn Rovers for a year, having taken over on February 9th, 2018.

Last season, they were in a relegation battle, but he kept them up on the final day with a win away to already promoted Leicester City.

His Rovers squad is now vying for promotion to the Premier League and remains in the FA Cup.

Lancashire dipped into the January transfer market to add some new names to their roster.

Last month, Dion Sanderson and Adam Forshaw joined from Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle, respectively.

Blackburn Rovers added forward duo Emmanuel Dennis and Cauley Woodrow, as well as short-term cover for left-back Yuri Ribeiro.

What now for Blackburn Rovers?

As Sutton mentioned, Eustace has done some excellent work with Rovers in recent years.

Their match against Wolves gives them the opportunity to test themselves against a top-tier club and assess where they stand.

Blackburn Rovers fell 2-1 away to QPR in the league earlier this week and will look to rebound.
