Matheus Cunha and Nelson Semedo react after confirmed Wolves departure.
Matheus Cunha and Nelson Semedo have both commented after a former teammate revealed his exit from the Wolves.
Semedo took over as captain of the team in December after Mario Lemina was embroiled in an on-field brawl with West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen.
That proved to be the impetus for the 31-year-old’s departure from Molineux, as he was also kept out of the side by new manager Vitor Pereira after expressing his wish to go.
Lemina’s departure from Wolves has been finalized, and his former colleagues hope for a successful transition to his new club.
Wolves duo reply as Mario Lemina says goodbye.
On Wednesday (5 February), the midfielder joined Turkish league leaders Galatasaray for £2 million.
He joined Wolves from Nice in the January 2023 transfer window and spent two years there.
After the midfielder came to Instagram to reflect on his departure from the club, Semedo and Cunha responded.
Semedo responded to the midfielder’s message with “All the best, my guy”. Cunha, meanwhile, reacted with “Enjoy bro, you deserve it.”
Football Insider’s Verdict
At this moment, it was reasonable for the Molineux club to approve Lemina’s transfer to Galatasaray.
Given the current controversy around him, not playing him on the pitch raises the possibility that his predicament may become a distraction for Wolves as they seek to escape relegation.
Nonetheless, based on the reactions to his departure posted here, it appears that he will be missed by his comrades.
Indeed, while Lemina has left, the fact that Cunha will remain after signing a new deal will be a significant boost to Wolves, given how essential he has already been in their relegation struggle.
