Wasted A Sheffield United player speaks out following a surprise transfer despite a fitness warning.
Lys Mousset, a former Sheffield United player, has been given another opportunity to showcase his undeniable potential in the League of Ireland.
Following a good trial period during which he recently scored in a friendly played behind closed doors, the Frenchman has signed with Bohemians.
After failing to play a single game for German team Bochum prior to his contract being mutually terminated a year ago due to concerns regarding his fitness, Mousset hasn’t played professionally in a while.
Mousset is still only 28 years old and is remembered by Unitedites for a stunning purple patch in the Premier League which saw him four goals in the space of six games in 2019/20, a season which saw him find the net against Arsenal and Manchester United.
His stint at United, however, was marred by fitness problems, and things didn’t get any better in Germany either. According to Bild, a reputable German media site, Bochum suspended Mousset for “lack of motivation, unpunctuality, and unprofessionalism.” Even though the training session was held adjacent to the hotel where Mousset was staying, it was later discovered that he had arrived late.
The former Bournemouth player, who came to Bramall Lane from United for £10 million, is the seventh addition to the Bohemians this season. Manager Alan Reynolds has cautioned fans that he will need time to recover from his stint on the sidelines. Reynolds declared, “I am thrilled to have a player of Lys’ caliber join the team.”
He has been staying with us for a few weeks, and we are quite pleased with what we have observed. He has also adapted quite nicely. Lys has performed at a level that speaks for itself. He wants to come here, enjoy football, and score goals since he has extraordinary talent. Bohs fans will like him, I’m sure of it.
Since it was announced that Lys was training with us, our fans have been quite excited, but they also understand that we will need to exercise patience with him. It will take him some time to reach the level of fitness we want him to reach because he hasn’t played in a while. However, he possesses a natural level of genuine star potential that will thrill fans and pose a serious threat to us up front.
“It feels great to sign, and I’m glad to be here,” the former France U21 player continued. I felt happy after talking to the manager when he called. I signed because he advised me to come here and enjoy myself.
“I’m really content here. This club’s members are incredibly friendly and have helped me feel fantastic. I can’t wait to get going, to resume playing football, and to give this team my all. I believe this year will be enjoyable.
