Scotland Under-21s prepare to learn UEFA EURO 2027 qualifying opponents
The draw, which will take place Thursday morning at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, will determine the Scotland Under-21s’ qualifying opponents for the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
The team of Scot Gemmill is in Pot 4 for the draw on Thursday.
At 8 a.m. (UK time), the tournament draw, which will be held in Albania and Serbia, will begin.
The Scotland Under-21 team barely missed out on a play-off spot after finishing third in their UEFA EURO 2025 qualifying group.
Players born in 2004 or younger will be chosen for the Under-21s, which will begin a new cycle with these qualifications.
Six groups of six teams and three groups of five teams will be formed from the 51 teams.
Along with co-hosts Albania and Serbia, the nine group winners and the runner-up with the best record against the top five in their group advance straight to the final event.
To choose the final four, the eight additional runners-up will compete in play-offs in November 2026.
Pot 1 begins the draw, while Pot 6 concludes it.
Scotland, who are in Pot 4, will be placed in a group of six or five teams. The following are the pots:
Pot 1: Germany, France, Ukraine, Italy, Denmark, Spain, England, Portugal, and the Netherlands
Pot 2: Norway, Belgium, Georgia, Czechia, Poland, Switzerland, Croatia, Romania, and the Republic of Ireland
Pot 3: Greece, Iceland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, and Slovenia
Pot 4: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Israel, North Macedonia, Turkey, Kosovo, Faroe Islands, and Moldova
Pot 5: Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Luxembourg
Pot 6: Gibraltar, San Marino, Andorra, Armenia, Malta, and Estonia
The following specific matchdays will be used to divide up the group matches:
March 17–25, 2025
June 2, 2025–10
September 1–9, 2025
October 6–14, 2025
November 10–18, 2025
March 23–31, 2026
September 21–October 6, 2026
