Jamie Redknapp makes big blunder for Newcastle United, while Jason Tindall reveals the unsettling truth about Arsenal.

The backroom team told Newcastle United‘s players to leave “right after Arsenal” in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, according to coach Jason Tindall.

However, the Magpies’ tactical masterclass left Arsenal unable to respond to United’s attacking intent, and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp misjudged the visitors’ strategy, claiming that Arsenal would play the game through to the end.

However, at 19 minutes, Jacob Murphy, continuing his amazing run of form, wrapped his foot around the rebound from Alexander Isak‘s blazing shot, ultimately ending the tie. And on minute fifty-two, Anthony Gordon completed the victory to make it 4-0 overall, eliminating any chance of late nerves.

Assistant coach Tindall came out to clarify that Newcastle’s strategy was never to sit back, even if the team had named a five-man defensive rearguard with Dan Burn, Fabian Schar, and Sven Botman in the middle of the backline.

When in possession, Newcastle’s 5-4-1 system essentially featured Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy, and Alexander Isak as a front three. United was incredibly effective in front of goal in both halves, with wing wizards Murphy and Gordon scoring 10 goals despite having only 31% of the ball.

“Arsenal is a top, top team,” Tindall stated. They were on a fantastic unbeaten run and are constantly there, but it was crucial that we played according to our plan.

“The players take full responsibility for that since it was about them going and doing it. From the very beginning, we pursued them relentlessly and caused them discomfort.

“When it came time to defend our box, we did a great job. We also know that Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak are always a threat since we knew their time would come. It was about taking chances when they arrived.

“You have to trust the manager and what he tells you to do,” added Blyth boy Dan Burn, who also commended the coaching staff for the tactical change that was made on Monday morning following the loss to Fulham.

“We followed Arsenal’s lead in game management. As a team, we will succeed if we follow the strategy.
