‘Change his life completely’ – Tommy Watson sent Sunderland message after Brighton move blocked

Sunderland fought off interest from Brighton for Tommy Watson on transfer deadline day

Tommy Watson will soon be back in contention for a first-team spot at Sunderland after a potentially lucrative transfer to Brighton fell through.

Sunderland reportedly rejected a £13 million bid from the Seagulls for the Black Cats academy star.
Fans praised the club for retaining their key players for their Championship promotion push.
Watson’s transfer story was one of the biggest stories in the Championship on deadline day. Marco Gabbiadini, a former Sunderland forward, was one of the analysts to weigh in on the topic.
Young players heading to the Premier League may not always succeed, and some wind up playing development football, which is a step backward.

Watson has had a taste of professional football and, with 10 Championship matches for Sunderland and two goals to his name, he will want to continue.

Speaking on Total Sport, Gabbiadini urged Watson to focus on the positives, like as receiving playing time at Sunderland.
He stated, “It’s a delicate balancing act with these types of transactions. The footballer seeks career stability and a lucrative contract with a major club, which may significantly impact his life. But, at the same time, where will he get additional minutes? I believe it will be at Sunderland, which will be extremely beneficial to him as well.”
Watson is recovering from an injury and will take some time to get back up to speed. He took over for Romaine Mundle after he was injured and played admirably before also ending up on the treatment table.

With Mundle returning soon, there will be increased rivalry for slots. Enzo Le Fee played wide against Middlesbrough and was named man of the match, but he loves to play centrally.
