Parker hails Burnley’s defensive record as ‘remarkable’ and says goals will come
Parker stated prior to Saturday’s trip to Bristol City that the task at hand was to combine his team’s potent defensive
with more goals at the other end of the field.
In their 15 league games this season, the Clarets have only given up six goals while scoring just eighteen. In recent
games, they have struggled to score goals.
That should be aided by South African forward Lyle Foster’s impending comeback from injury, but Parker expressed
confidence in the future.
Burnley Football Club manager Scott Parker issues injury update and team news ahead of Bristol City clash
“The defensive aspect of our game has been nothing short of outstanding, and that’s a real plus,” Parker stated. That
is something I have never really experienced before. It has greatly benefited us and provided us with a solid base.
On the other hand, there is undoubtedly something we need to improve. I am confident that we will arrive. I must be
really explicit. It all comes down to intent, positioning, and how we’re getting in the proper places.
We weren’t committing enough bodies, so I don’t think that was the case two or three weeks ago. The last two games
have shown a significant improvement. It all boils down to being unrelenting and performing for ninety minutes.
With this crew, I am confident that we will succeed.
Parker also gave former Robins player Josh Brownhill and Saturday’s opponents Bristol City high marks, stating:
“Josh has been fantastic since I walked in here.” It will be a difficult matchup; the other team is very strong, has
somewhat altered their strategy, and had an outstanding performance in their most recent match.
