Idah not ‘really that bothered’ Celtic didn’t replace Kyogo

Celtic’s Adam Idah wasn’t upset that the team failed to replace Kyogo Furuhashi.

Celtic striker Adam Idah ‘wasn’t really that upset’ that the club failed to acquire another centre-forward in January.

Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit to French side Rennes has been in the process for a number of months, and Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers intended to replace the Japanese frontman before Monday’s transfer deadline.

His club failed to, though, with Rodgers openly acknowledging Monday that his squad is ‘lighter’ coming into the second half of this season than it was in the first.

Centre-forward Idah wasn’t too angry that Celtic didn’t sign a new striker, however: “I wasn’t really that bothered,” he stated.

“We know Kyogo left and he was the main significant guy here. I guess some people probably believed they were going to bring in a striker, but at the end of the day, like I said, we’ve got enough of other strikers in the building.

“We’ve got young lads, obviously myself. For us, like I said, it’s doing the job and training and working hard and maybe we can produce on the pitch.”

Idah has come into form recently for his side, netting three goals in his past two games across all competitions.

Along with the 23-year-old, Johnny Kenny is also available to Rodgers in attack, with young Daniel Cummings giving another option. Daizen Maeda can amply operate as a centre-forward, too.

It remains to be known who will get the nod as Celtic host Dundee in the Scottish Premiership tonight, looking to go 13 points clear of city rivals Rangers at the top of the table.
