Blackburn Rovers pursued Augustus Kargbo during the second half of the winter transfer window before signing him on January 31st.
The attacker joined Ewood Park from Cesena FC on a permanent basis and signed a deal until 2027, with an option for another year.
He joins Blackburn Rovers after contributing five goals and three assists in 21 outings for the Serie B team this season.
Africa Foot spoke with the Sierra Leone international on his choice to leave Cesena for John Eustace’s side.
The 25-year-old has spent his whole senior career in Italy, and on Friday, he left for the first time to join the Championship club.
Kargbo feels that joining Blackburn Rovers is a huge step for him, and he stated that he wants to help the English team.
“I joined Blackburn with a tremendous deal of enthusiasm and determination. “I am excited to contribute to the team’s success and grow as a player,” he stated.
Blackburn Rovers sit fifth in the league, one point clear of sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion and seventh-place Middlesbrough. Kargbo’s ambition is to maintain his growth while also assisting his new club in achieving their aims.
“My main ambitions in England are to enhance my game, assist the team achieve its goals, and establish myself in one of the most competitive football environments. “I want to develop both technically and physically and prove myself at this level,” Kargbo stated.
The former Cesena player claims he was aware of Blackburn Rovers’ history and fans even before joining them.
“I had an idea about Blackburn before signing. I was familiar with the club’s history, ardent fans, and objectives. “I also followed the league,” he explained.
